If you desire a smart looking phone, but not quite ready to stretch to the other high end phones in the N-Series series, the Nokia N76 is the device for you. Resembling the Motorola RAZR, the Nokia N76 has won the laurels for its Series 60 platform prowess, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Of course the ergonomics include many other useful features and functionalities.
The Nokia N76 comes with a clamshell mechanism, that is solid and quite usable. The exterior has a reflective screen, much like that of LG Shine, but unlike Shine the Nokia N76 has a smaller screen. Yes, it means that much space has been wasted at the sides. Musical lovers will revel at the usability of Nokia N76. There is a quick-access multimedia playback buttons below the LCD. On opening the device, an impressive keypad is revealed. It is flat, and it takes a while for the users to of distinguishing the keys. The keypad also comes with a ambient light sensor, which gets activated on moving to darker environments. Further, the Nokia N76 comes with a customizable multimedia key which we can be configured to access frequently used multimedia programs.
The 3.5mm slot on the top edge has become the cynosure of criticism by many. Where on one hand it ensures that the headset connector does not protrude from the sides of the pocket, on the other, it debars the handset from fully opening when it is plugged. Also, if one is using the 3.5mm slot, one cannot receive a call, till he unplugs it. Though this situation can be avoided if one resorts to the use of bundled earpiece.
Other things that makes the Nokia N76 a real treat to the users are- 2 MP camera, music player, quadband (GSM 850/900/1800/1900), 3G capability, mini-USB outlet ( to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook), 26MB of internal memory, multimedia player, 2-megapixel CMOS camera (with LED flash) etc.
